upgrading the museum’s current tour layout
in 2015, chatillon architectes’ team was selected to direct the partial restoration and redevelopment of the site, and to redesign its interior in contemporary fashion — making it accessible to all members of the public. partnering with snøhetta for the architectural design and nathalie crinière agency for the scenography, the team restored certain roofings and façades, and reconfigured the existing spatial layout to include a new museographic itinerary. as result, the musée carnavalet features today a reception area, pathways that accommodate an increased number of visitors, as well as temporary and permanent exhibition rooms — some of which sit in the cellars that were once inaccessible to the public.
