When it seemed like anti-vaxxers couldn’t do more to showcase their stupidity, they managed to outdo themselves again after an anti-vax leader told his followers to drink their own urine to fight COVID-19.
Christopher Key, leader of the anti-vaccine organization Vaccine Police, extolled the virtues of “urine therapy” to his followers in a video posted on his Telegram account and seen by The Daily Beast. He claimed that piss can help cure COVID and is actually more effective than the vaccine.
“The antidote that we have seen now, and we have tons and tons of research, is urine therapy,” Key said in the video. “Okay, and I know to a lot of you this sounds crazy, but guys, God’s given us everything we need.”
Later in the video, he addresses the audience directly and yells, “I drink my own urine and I’ve been drinking my own urine for the last 23 years,” before admitting he also drinks bleach.
Of course, this deranged admission doesn’t change the fact that vaccines are not only safe but highly effective at preventing death and serious illness. Despite the mountain of evidence that shows this, anti-vaxxers are still finding new and disgusting ways to work themselves into a moronic fervor.
As the Omicron variant of COVID wreaks havoc across the world, it’s more important than ever that people get vaccinated and and boosted. Multiple studies, you’ll recall, have shown that the vaccines provide greatly increased protection against the virus.
It should also be noted that Key seems particularly unglued even by anti-vax standards. The Vaccine Police leader was recently arrested for criminal trespassing just days after he set out on a road trip to “arrest” governors, The Daily Beast reported previously.
So please, don’t listen to this moron. Get vaccinated and wear a mask — and fight the urge to do your best Bear Grylls impersonation by drinking your own pee.
