7 Top Paying Programming Languages You Can Learn in 2022 – Best of Lot

For the last couple of weeks, I have been doing some research about which programming languages beginners and experienced developers can learn in 2022 to increase their pay and packages when I stumbled about StackOverflow’s Developer Survey. If you have seen them before and it’s one of the best surveys for software developers, which provides useful insights about programming and the IT world. One of the things I really liked about this survey was its several lists like the list of top 10 programming languages and the most loved frameworks by programmers. Still, the one I found most useful was the list of high-paying technologies. This is a great list and allows you to choose what you can learn in 2022 to go to the next level in your career in terms of both financial and career growth.

In this article, I am going to talk about the 10 high-paying technologies programmers can learn in 2022. This is particularly important for software developers who are stuck on low-paying, boring jobs where they do nothing but start/stop the process and check logs.

Since growth is significant in any developer’s career, we also need to continually learn new technologies and use them to our advantage. Technologies are changing fast and what was in demand a couple of years back is now obsolete, that’s why it’s very very important to keep learning and improving yourself.

If you are on the same page, you can choose one of the technologies or programming languages from this list to learn in 2022 and can switch to a high-paying job in 2022.

Though, keep in mind to choose the programing language which is close to your interest areas because there is no point in learning a programming language that you are not going to use, even if it’s offering you a very high salary.

Rather, choose something which you can use in your day-to-day job as well get some new opportunities with higher salaries. For example, Java developers can learn Python or Scala to improve their scripting skills and server-side programming skills.

7 High Paying Programming languages to Learn in 2022

Here is the list of the highest-paying technologies you can learn in 2022 to give your career a boost. These technologies are both exciting to work on and also reward you financially for your hard work.

The list indicates the worldwide salary StackOverflow developer’s survey but my list is a little bit different and I have also included language which I see potential.

In short, globally, developers who use Perl in their jobs have the highest average salary at $76,000. In the U.S., developers who use Go as well as developers who use Scala are the highest paid with an average salary of $76,000.

The list also includes programming languages like TypeScript at $57K, and  Python at $59K

And, here is the list I am talking about:

Btw, I have not chosen the exact same tech from the list, instead, I have chosen only mainstream programming langauge which has higher demand and a better all-around future because it doesn’t matter if you get paid high but there are only a few opportunities for you to grab.

1. Scala

Scala is a general-purpose programming language providing support for functional programming and a strong static type system. Designed to be concise, many of Scala’s design decisions aimed to address criticisms of Java.

The best part of Scala is that Scala code is compiled into Java bytecode, which can run on any JVM. The average pay for Scala developers worldwide is $76,000 which is quite high if you consider low GDP countries like India contributing to that.

If you want to learn Scala, then Scala & Functional Programming for Beginners | Rock the JVM  by Daniel Cicorlan on Udemy is a great resource to start with.

If you are still not convinced about learning Scala, I suggest you take a look at the 10 reasons to learn Scala in 2022, which has a lot more points to suggest why learning Scala is a great idea.

2. Golang

Go is an open-source programming language by Google designed for building simple, fast, and reliable software. It provides lots of useful features from other popular languages and deliberately omits many bad ones.

It compiles fast, runs fast-ish, includes a runtime and garbage collection, has a simple static type system and dynamic interfaces. The average pay for Go developers worldwide is $64,516.

If you want to learn the Golang, then Go: The Complete Developer’s Guide (Golang) by Stephen Grider on Udemy is probably the best course to start with.

I have attended a couple of React and Redux courses of Stephen, and I can say that he is one of the instructors on Udemy.

3. Perl

Perl is one of the oldest programming languages, but it is still one of the top-paying technologies. The average pay for Perl developers worldwide is $63,068. You may think that Perl is dead already, and there is no point in learning Perl, but let me tell you if you have some Perl experience, you will still be in demand.

Though, if you are a complete beginner, I suggest you learn Python instead of Perl because Python is more general-purpose, and the return of investment in Python is much better than Perl.

Learning Perl again only makes sense if you have some prior experience and want to take your knowledge to the next level to become a Perl expert.

If you want to learn Perl, then Learn Perl by Doing by John Purcell is probably the best course to start with.

4. Rust

Rust is a systems programming language that runs blazingly fast, prevents segfaults, and guarantees thread safety. It’s backed by Mozilla research. It’s also one of the most loved languages by developers as per the StackOverflow survey.

The average pay for Rust developers worldwide is $74,000. If you want to learn Rust, then The Rust Programming Language course on Udemy is an excellent place to start with.  The icing on the cake, Rust is also the most loved programming language on the survey.

5. Ruby

Ruby is… A dynamic, open-source programming language with a focus on simplicity and productivity. According to its creator, Ruby was influenced by Perl, Smalltalk, Eiffel, Ada, and Lisp.

It has an elegant syntax that is natural to read and easy to write. The average pay for Rust developers worldwide is $60,000,

The average pay for Rust developers worldwide is $61,809,
